How Does Radiesse® Work?

Radiesse® immediately restores volume to the skin upon injection with a fine needle. Radiesse® is comprised of its main component, Calcium Hydroxylapatite microspheres. These microspheres help adding volume to your skin upon injection and continue to do so as time progresses, making your skin look refreshed and youthful. Radiesse® continuously supports your body’s collagen production, which is the main protein found in the structure of the skin. Based on the individual’s skin type among some other factors will determine how long the results of the treatment will last. Typically, results may last up to a year or longer.

Why Choose Radiesse®?

  • It is an FDA approved dermal filler
  • Results can last a year or longer
  • Wrinkles and folds are smoothed out
  • Instant and detectable results of younger-looking skin

What Should You Not Do After a Radiesse® Injection?

Following dermal filler injections, there are a few things to take into consideration in regards to healing and recovery. You should make sure you avoid any strenuous exercise or consumption of alcohol for a few days after your treatment to allow your facial injections to rest properly where they are needed. This includes avoiding massaging of the face which can disperse the injection gel and reduce its effectiveness. In addition, you should also avoid certain activities such as waxing, sunbathing, and using hot tubs. If you notice a lump of Radiesse® that has occurred underneath the skin, it is okay to massage this out to help it evenly incorporate in the treatment area to address it. If you notice any changes or have concerns following your appointment, you are welcome to contact the team at Old Town MedSpa to see if you need to return to the office for further assistance.

How Long Does It Take for Radiesse® To Settle In?

After you leave Drs. Shal and Nael Gharbi of Old Town MedSpa in Chicago, IL, you will notice immediate changes to your skin when you leave our office. However, the treatment results will be fully seen over several weeks as Radiesse® settles into the skin and smooths the areas of concern. After the injections have settled and you see the final results, you can enjoy them for several months when compared to other dermal fillers available on the market today.

Do You See Immediate Results With Radiesse®?

Yes! After your appointment, you will see the changes, though they improve with time as the gel injectable settles into the skin, including the fine lines and wrinkles targeted during treatment.

Can Radiesse® Lift Cheeks?

Some of our patients who visit our office use Radiesse® injections as a way to recontour specific parts of the face, including the cheeks and cheekbones. When administered in a strategic manner by our board-certified doctors at Old Town MedSpa, many patients can achieve results similar to a mild cheek lift. Knowing where to inject the filler and how much to use is vital to getting the changes you desire while ensuring a natural finished look.

Is Radiesse® Good for Jowls?

If used correctly, Radiesse® can reduce the appearance of the jowls. This is done by using the injectables on the lower portion of the face and along the jawline to add volume, which in turn gives the illusion of reduced jowls. If you have extensive skin laxity that has caused the formation of very noticeable jowls, Radiesse® alone may not help get you the results you truly desire. Severe skin laxity is often best improved with plastic surgery techniques versus cosmetic injectables, and our team can refer you to a professional if this would be a better fit for your unique needs.

How Long Will Radiesse® Last?

Most of our patients who undergo Radiesse® injections will enjoy the results for many months. Once the injectable is absorbed into the body, it is time for another injection appointment to maintain the results and slow the overall process of aging over the years.
